What to Expect on Your First Visit

We recognize that most patients appreciate being well informed on what to expect during their first visit with us.

Below is an overview of what your first visit to Huntington Family Dental will look like. We offer two types of appointments (traditional and biological) but the process is similar.

Your First Visit

01 Get to know you

Your first appointment at our practice will take approximately an hour and a half. Our team will start your appointment by asking a few questions about your medical and dental history, your smile goals, and any concerns you may have. Certain medical conditions or medications can impact your treatment plan, so we will also ask you to list any medications, supplements, and vitamins you are taking and their corresponding dosages.

02 Exam

We will then perform a comprehensive oral exam. Our team will take a series of diagnostic x-rays, a 3D iTero scan, and take a few intraoral pictures. We use these visual aids for diagnosis purposes and to help explain what is happening in your mouth. We will perform an oral cancer screening with the help of Velscope, a full periodontal assessment, a hard and soft tissue exam, and a quick TMJ screening. Our team will also take a small culture of your plaque to examine under a microscope to analyze the microorganisms in the mouth. Additionally, we will test the pH of your saliva.

03 Dental Plan

Once your exam is complete, Dr. Raina will go over her findings and review treatment options. Dr. Raina will explain all treatment options and work with you to create a treatment plan to help you achieve a healthier mouth and reach your smile goals.
